Speed Champions
As their release for sale gets closer today we've seen official LEGO imagery for the new Lamborghini twin-pack giving us our first proper look at the two models, including the rear of both the Huracan and Urus. We've also had a few new images of the Jaguar twin pack - both due for release January 1, 2020 and presumably making their debut on the LEGO Store some time in December.
After the initial announcement of the Speed Champions Jaguar I-PACE Formula E and E-PACE twin pack, next we're seeing the long awaited introduction of Lamborghini in the Speed Champions line up. Today we're seeing the introduction of the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo and Urus ST-X double pack for 2020, both in the new '8 wide' format.
While Speed Champions rumours have gone quiet after the announcement of next year's Jaguar I-Pace set, Technic rumours have been buzzing away - and there seems to be a lot of smoke around a potential Fast and Furious movie tie-in set for 2020. We also cover the latest updates on the potential next Technic Ultimate Series vehicle and the Top Gear Rally Car seems to have grown a brand.
We'd seen some rumblings that a Jaguar Speed Champions twin pack was in the works at LEGO and sure enough, today we're seeing the announcement of a Formula E/iPace double pack. These models bring a huge development though, with Speed Champions moving to an 8 stud wide format. Let's dig in and see what's been announced and what we can look forward to in 2020.
After being leaked all the way back in mid-June thanks to a UK toy retailer, we're finally getting our hands on set 42110, the Technic Land Rover Defender. Given we recently reported the full-size LEGO McLaren Senna was on a small tour of the UK it seemed like a shame not to make a trip out to see it at Bluewater Shopping Center. We went and checked this ultra-realistic build out, along with the LEGO "I Love Cars" promotion going on alongside it.
After noticing an image in the build instructions for the Ferrari F1 Ultimate Garage set of a Speed Champions logo on the flank of a Mercedes-AMG GT we tracked the image down. As a result, we found this cool story around a collaboration two years ago between Mercedes and LEGO to celebrate the release of the Speed Champions AMG GT GT3.
